As it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD.Romans 3:10-12
Most of us are familiar with the Parable of the Prodigal Son. In Luke 15 Jesus tells the story of a son who asks for his inheritance and heads to the “far country.” There, we know he spent all of his wealth on extravagant living. In today’s vernacular, we would say the Prodigal went bankrupt. The truth is, we are all bankrupt. As our Scripture says, we are all doers of “no good.” There is nothing we can do morally to increase our position before God. But because of God’s grace and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross, we are saved.
Christ pays our debt to the Father, and stamps “paid in full” on our account. We can’t contribute one thing. We can only, through faith, receive this gift of God – the riches of His amazing grace!
