Heart sights
"I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye sees Thee; therefore I retract, and I repent in dust and ashes." - JOB 42:5-6
I invited a pastor I know to a symphony, and he asked, “Who is Phil Harmonic?”
Prior to working on a church staff, my friend was a football coach. He may not know a quarter note, but he can tell you every nuance of every play in any quarter of any football game he watches!
His eye is trained for the game, and will see things others miss. Because of his tribulations, Job had to retrain his heart-eyes. He had been focused so long on his problems, he had lost the capacity to see God clearly. Crisis is always a huge distraction. Job had been tempted to make wrong conclusions about God. His “friends” attempted to refocus his heart-vision to conform to their own blurry views.
Then Job saw God at a new level. Rather than fuzziness, Job’s searing heartbreak burned away the film over his heart-eyes. The sight in his heart overwhelmed the mere hearing of ideas, notions and concepts.
Objective truths and principles may reassure and guide us, but the sight of a heart trained to see God will transform us!
TODAY’S HEART FOCUS
