The heart’s location

February 06, 2018
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. - MATTHEW 6:19-21

When David Livingston died, his heart was buried in Africa where he served, though his body was laid to rest in his native England.

A physician about to operate on a human heart can peg its location in the chest cavity. Everyone knows where the physical heart is located. But Jesus says the address of the spiritual heart—the core of the human being—is wherever the person’s treasure is. If one knows the Africa of David Livingston’s expansive love, one can find the resting place of Livingston’s heart.

Literally, your treasure is whatever you regard as having exceptional value. What you value determines the focus of your heart and the focus of your heart reveals what you really value.

TODAY’S FOCUS
Value Christ and His Kingdom above all else, and you will be blessed in all other areas of life. (Matthew 6:33)
