True confession
… if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved… - ROMANS 10:9
Confession must be aligned with belief. Confession is to faith what the upper story of a building is to its foundation.
So, yesterday we considered heart-belief, and today we focus on the confession arising from it. If you believe in your heart and do not make confession with your lips, that’s cowardice. If you make confession with your lips and do not believe in your heart, that’s hypocrisy. But when we believe in our heart and confess what we believe, that’s harmony, integrity, credibility and reality.
The confession of the believing heart is three words: “Jesus is Lord!” The human mind can confess religious belief, but only the heart can proclaim the Lordship of Christ. Reason can embrace theology, but only the totality of intellect, emotions, conscience and will can acknowledge Christ’s Lordship. True confession results from that alignment of the total heart.
